Tips and disclaimers! The parade is fun, but it is also very busy and crowded. Unless you get there very early, you will be standing, so younger children will get tired and antsy. Take the bus or train downtown. The streets into downtown get shut down usually by 7:30 am so traffic backs up and there is limited parking. Its usually cooler in the morning, so dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes. They say it doesn't rain on the Stampede Parade, but it has been known to happen, so check the weather before you head out! Snacks are always a good idea, but remember to carry out your garbage.
