Starting today, parents can head to Charlesglen Toyota, located in the Northwest Auto Mall, to have their child’s fingerprints digitally recorded using Operation KidSafe technology. Operation Kidsafe offers a safety kit for parents that includes a digital image of their child’s fingerprints to be given to authorities if their child ever goes missing. Operation Kidsafe has fingerprinted more than 700,000 kids, typically using mobile units that travel from city to city and has been around for over 10 years in the US. The fine folks at Charlesglen Toyota offered to host Canada’s first permanent location and are offering this important service to the community.

How Operation KidSafe Works:
Operation KidsSafe captures your child’s fingerprints using a digital inkless fingerprint capture device and specialized software (the same technology used by the FBI). The data is printed out including your child’s photo on a high quality 81/2 x 11 printout. No records are kept of your child’s visit, and nothing is transfered to any law enforcement agency. The only record of the visit is taken home by parents. There is a great cafe and children’s play area in the dealership, so you can make an event out of it!
No appointment is necessary and the service will always be free to Calgary and area families.

Fantastic! Love this idea and glad it is a permanent location – so often these kind of things pop up at events or places we aren’t going to and can’t make arrangements.
