On Your Mark! An Inspirational Evening for Raising Healthier Generations

Is your child enjoying a healthy and active lifestyle? As parents, we try to keep our children healthy and active, but despite our best intentions, busy family schedules often lead to convenient but unhealthy practices when it comes to food and exercise. If you’re ready to lead your family down a healthier path, this event is for you.

On Friday, November 16, celebrated Olympic swimmer and Canada’s 2012 Olympic GamesChef de Mission, Mark Tewksbury and Dr. Mark Tremblay, the author of Canada’s Report Card on Active Living, are teaming up to get families on the right track to healthy living. The two Marks will lead an inspiring conversation to help families raise healthier generations.

The Childhood Obesity Foundation reports that 59% of Canadians, including 29% of adolescents, sit at an unhealthy weight. Statistics Canada reports indicate that cities in Alberta suffer from obesity rates higher than the national average. With some experts fearing that the current generation of children will not outlive their parents due to health complications from obesity, bad eating habits, and inactivity, we all owe it to our kids to get educated and learn more about healthy living.

So, join Mark and Mark for an evening that will give you plenty of new ideas on how to get your family eating right and moving together. It’s time to work together to become part of the solution to one of Canada’s biggest challenges.

Comments

  1. We try to keep introducing new, healthy foods to our very picky eaters. And our kids drag us out of the house to play, even on days that we’d rather stay warm and dry inside. It’s a team effort!

  2. We try to make every weekend morning an activity morning – letting the kids choose their favourite activity (swimming is chosen more often than not)

  3. We play as much as possible and volunteer for a lot of local running races.
