Northwest Parks & PathwaysNose Hill ParkNose Hill Park is a natural area which is literally, a large hill in the middle of Calgary. It is the largest municipal park in Canada. With trails throughout, it is popular with walkers and mountain bikers. The park provides a look at what the land known today as Calgary may have looked like at one time, featuring over 66 native plant species, such as crocus, sage, golden bean and rough rescue, which is considered endangered. Bow River CorridorFrom Pearce Estate Park by the Zoo in the east to Bowness Park in the west with Kensington and Prince's Island Park along the way. This is an easy ride because it is flat most of the way and is also poplular with rollerbladers. Be sure to check out the Douglas Fir Hiking Trail region on the south side of the Bow About 25 km each direction.
Baker Park/Bowness ParkA 6km bike ride along the Bow River and through Bowness Park.
Confederation ParkThis area is a great place for families and picnics, featuring manicured lawns and greenery as far as the eye can see plus creeks and tiny bridges to cross. The pathways are easy yet pleasantly undulating. Parking is available on 10 Street and 24 Avenue NW. The route is about 4 km across one way.Edgemont Park RavinesSpanning Edgemont Drive to Country Hills Boulevard along a ravine and natural scenery, this park is home to mule deer, coyotes and many birds in the cattail-lined wetland. It's family bike-trailer friendly, and great for rollerblading and picnics. The route is 3 km across one way and parking is on west side of Edgemont Drive, just north of John Laurie Boulevard NW. Prince's Island ParkPrince's Island Prince's Island is located in the city's core by Eau Claire Market on the Bow River and is one of the more popular parks. There is an extensive trail through the park excellent for joggers, walkers, cyclists and rollerbladers. A children's playground is onsite, as well as a seasonal water park. Riley ParkRiley Park is a great place to picnic with your little ones. Located between the neighbourhood of Kensington and SAIT, Riley Park features a playground, an outdoor children's wading pool, gardens, baseball diamonds and cricket fields.
