In addition to giving people the facts about how much and what kind of grains are grown in Canada, visitors learn that some 90 nations buy grain from Canada, and they get to see an array of products made from grain.

Visitors can watch a video on the history of the settlement of the prairies, see a demo of a working grain elevator and view a model train make its way around a track demonstation the movement of grain from stop to stop.

Other displays include pioneer farm equipment and much more.

The Military Museums

Location: 4520 Crowchild Trail SW
Telephone: 403-240-9723

Here you will experience the victories, tragedies, and sacrifices of the men and women of the Canadian Forces. Walk through a First World War trench, learn about Canada’s only tank unit, and hear the story behind Canada’s victory at Vimy. The Military Museums’ award-winning facility is dedicated to representing Canada's Army, Air Force, and Navy and to educating the public, particularly youth, about Canada’s military. And if that isn't enough to encourage the kids to learn about our military history, then tell them they can climb on a real tank and see a fighter jet up close!

Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum

Location: 88 Canada Olympic Road SW
Telephone: 403 247-5452

The Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum houses a whole variety of Olympic-themed exhibits and paraphernalia. This is the only Canadian museum devoted to the Olympic Games in Canada and it is the largest in all of North America. Exhibits on two floors chronicle Canada's participation at the Olympic Winter Games since their inception in 1924.

A particularly fascinating exhibit are the 20 of the 31 Olympic torches, dating back all the way to the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. The Blood, Sweat and Cheers exhibit pays tribute to Canada's Olympic Medal winners at the Salt Lake City Winter Games in 2002. The flags displayed in the museum and in the Plaza represent all the nations that competed in the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary.

Key highlights of the Museum are a reproduction of the bobsleigh used by the Jamaican bobsleigh team in the 1988 Olympics (the film “Cool Runnings” was based on this story), an original hockey jacket from 1956 which inspired the 1988 Olympic attire, and medals for all 12 sports that were held in Calgary in the 1988 Olympics.
