Day Out With Thomas 2011 marks my fifth year going to Heritage Park to visit this adorable tank engine with my kids. This year was special because we went with some friends, Merry With Children blogger, Merry and her son Evan. Definitely the highlight of the day is always seeing Thomas the Tank and getting to go on a ride, but there are so many other fun activities for the kids that the ride is only a part of the fun. Each year my son gets his face painted. He has been some form of Spiderman the past three years. This year he was Venom for the second year in a row.
One of the things I love about Heritage Park are the old fashioned rides. A couple of the tamer rides are open for the little ones for Day Out With Thomas: the Merry Go Round and the Boat Swings.
Some of other highlights include going on a horse drawn wagon ride, running through the mazes, story time, live entertainment, crafts, playing with toy trains and of course, shopping for new toys.
My husband laughs at me because he’s not entirely convinced I go to Day Out With Thomas because the kids love it or because I love it. I can assure you that after a visit to the bakery to get one of their famous cheese buns, he might be right!

I wondered why there were so many people in the bakery! We went yesterday and had so much fun…I posted about it today. Love your sons face paint. Don’t the painters do an amazing job?
Their bakery is awesome. Even when I was a little girl we always had a tradition of getting a sausage roll or cheese bun. It is a pretty cool feeling to do the same things with my kids as I did when I was their age. – Melissa
