Having kids can get expensive but having fun with kids does not have to be. Many of the other pages include activities that can be done for free but this page is dedicated for those special deals that come along every once in awhile.

Free Skating at Heritage Park

The Town Square skating rink is comprised of a synthetic material; therefore, it won’t melt and can be skated on regardless of what Calgary’s erratic weather decides to do!

It’s open daily from 10am until 8pm from November until March. It is located in the free zone of Heritage Park, and is free to the public.

Calgary COOP Skate for the Community - FREE

Bernard Callebaut Factory Tours

We are not sure if you knew this but the best chocolate in Canada has their factory right here in Calgary and they offer FREE tours! They offer self-guided and guided tours. If you would like a guided tour with a Bernard Callebaut expert telling you all about how chocolate is made you will need to make a reservation with a minimum of 6 people by calling (403) 266-4300. You can also do a self-guided tour during the week between 9:00am - 11:000am or 1:00pm - 4:00pm. There is no age limit and the tours can last from 5 minutes to 45 minutes. There is a lot of information along the walls when walking through the hallway explaining quite a bit about the chocolate making process. Be sure to stop by the retail store for some delicious samples.

Home Depot Workshops for Kids - FREE

Home Depot offers free Know-How Workshops for kids, ages 6-12. Children accompanied by an adult can construct projects from pre-fabricated kits, learning Do-It-Yourself skills and tool safety, while enjoying a real sense of accomplishment.

Southcentre Comfy Kid's Club - FREE

For kids ages two to five, look for the Southcentre Comfy Kids Club with fun activities at Centre Court from 9:30 to 11 am the second Wednesday of each month (excluding December)

Marlborough Mall Kids Fun- FREE

At Family Park, just inside entrance #1, Marlborough Mall has Kids Fun every third Saturday of the month.

Sunridge Mall Sunkidz - FREE

Sunridge Mall invites all kids six and under to sign up for its new Sunkidz program. On the first Wednesday of each month (November and December excluded) at 10am, children and their parents will enjoy exciting activities, including crafts, games, sing-a-longs, and special guests.

Movie in the park is Calgary's answer to drive in movies. These are free, sponsored events by companies and communities. A huge inflatable screen is set up on different dates around the city. All you need to bring is a blanket or lawn chairs, some movie snacks and enjoy!

Calgary Public Library

The Calgary Public Library has free, registered and unregistered drop-in programs for parents and children. Each library has different programs for different ages, so you will need to look at the Kid's & Teen's prgram guide to find one that is right for you.

VRRI - Children's Open Gym

Play equipment including a mini-trampoline, crash pads, mats, balls and scooters will be set up. Equipment varies slightly from day to day. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Adults are not charged for this program. Times:

Friday Night Stargazing - FREE!

At the Telus World of Science, every clear Friday night amateur astronomers lead visitors through the spectacular night sky. Weather permitting (meaning clear skies).

Admission to view through the telescopes is free.
