We Take Our Monkeys To The Zoo

Has anyone been to the Zoo recently? What a great place! My husband took the week off and we spent a lot of time together. We took the kids to the zoo and we all had a lovely time, and to cap it, the both fell asleep in the car on the way home!

The Elephant exhibit is just great and the talks that the zoo provides are entertaining enough to grab my 3-year-old’s attention for more than 5 minutes… We even got a peek at the Ray pool (which is in Elephant Crossing); it’s kind of sad though, because there are only two left and we aren’t allowed to get very close.

The playground is one of the highlights for my kids, and I love how it has three sections, each one appropriate for different age groups, so I don’t have to worry about my 1-year-old getting bowled over by 6-year-old kids.
Are your kid’s Diego fans? If so, they’ll love the South America section. My favourite exhibit is the African because of the Hippo’s (who we saw being fed whole watermelons) and the new baby giraffe. My daughter enjoyed the lions and Zebra’s, although told us the Lions had “stinky Pee, Pee-yew!” And my son loved watching the fish in the tanks. We didn’t get around to seeing my husbands favourite, the Canadian Wilds’ but we did get the annual pass, which certainly helps make the zoo a lot cheaper and encourages us to visit more often. We had such a nice day together and really, that’s what it is all about.
