My Dirty Little Secret

I have never considered myself a "hippie" by any stretch of the imagination but that is what I have been referred to by some of my friends. They introduce me as their "hippy friend." I know why they do this. I tend to border on the crazy side when it comes to being anti-chemical, anti-preservative and anti-mainstream medicine. Yes..I can be a bit cuckoo. When my son was born (water-birth with a midwife) my life changed. I chose cloth diapers over disposibles when he was in diapers. I make my food homeade from scratch opting for organic when possible. That includes homeade yogurt, bread and ice cream. I eliminated plastic from my home before it was hip. I make all my houseshold cleaning supplies from scratch, simmer essential oils to treat a cold and swear acupunture is the cure to all ailments of the human body. So what is my dirty little secret? My horrific confession?

I take my son to McDonald's. Alot.

I realized how often we visit McDonald's when we were looking at the Happy Meal toys only to discover he already had all of them. I grew up with fond memories of going to McDonald's as a child and I enjoy the tradition with my son. Our favorite McDonald's to visit are the locations with the indoor PlayPlace. It gives Evan a chance to run off some steam indoors (especially with the horrific weather we have been having) and gives me a chance to catch up with some reading which I am watching him out of the corner of my eye. We have added a list of all the McDonald's locations in Calgary with an indoor PlayPlace on our Family Eats page.
